What is happening in the sky
Nothing reverses. Retrograde motion is an apparent change of direction seen from Earth, the same effect as a slower car seeming to slide backwards when you overtake it. Pluto's orbit is 248 years long, so it moves less than two degrees a year and can spend 12 to 30 years in one sign. Earth overtakes it every 367 days, so the retrograde begins about two days later each year and lasts nearly half the year. Astronomers have classified Pluto as a dwarf planet since 2006; astrologers still read it alongside the planets. It is far too faint to see without a large telescope.
