When is my Saturn return? The short version by birth year

Saturn's cycle is close enough to 29.5 years that a rough answer needs only your birth year. The first Saturn return is exact when you are 29 going on 30; the second at 58 going on 59; the third around 88. So:

• Born 1996–1998: first return 2026–2028, with Saturn in Aries. This is happening now.
• Born 1998–2000: first return 2028–2030, Saturn in Taurus.
• Born 2000–2003: first return 2030–2033, Saturn in Gemini.
• Born 1993–1996: your first return (Saturn in Pisces) ran March 2023 to February 2026 and has just finished.
• Born 1967–1969: second return 2026–2028, Saturn in Aries. Also happening now.
• Born 1969–1971: second return 2028–2030, Saturn in Taurus.

Am I in my Saturn return right now?

Yes, if Saturn is currently in the same sign it occupied when you were born. Saturn entered Aries on 14 February 2026 and remains there until April 2028. That puts two groups in their return today: people born with Saturn in Aries between April 1996 and June 1998 (plus a short retrograde window from late October 1998 to late February 1999), and people born between March 1967 and April 1969, who are in their second return.

If you fall just outside those dates, check the calculator anyway. Saturn's retrograde loops mean the boundary is not a clean line. Someone born in late June 1998 may have Saturn at 0° Taurus and miss the Aries return entirely, while someone born in January 1999 has Saturn back in late Aries and gets the return in early 2028.

Being "in your return" also has degrees of intensity. Saturn crossing your natal degree within one degree of orb is the exact return, the part people feel most. How the calculator works (and what it cannot do)

This free version uses two things: Saturn's ingress dates by sign (the day Saturn entered and left each sign, including retrograde dips) and Saturn's mean orbital period of 29.4571 years. From your birth date it returns your Saturn sign, and from the sign it returns the window in which Saturn transits that sign again 29.5, 59 and 88.5 years later. It is accurate to the month for the window and close for the centre of the return.

What it cannot do is give you the three exact passes to the day, because that needs your natal Saturn's degree and minute and a proper ephemeris. Saturn return dates: why you get three, not one

Saturn moves forward through the zodiac for roughly seven and a half months each year, then appears to move backward (retrograde) for about four and a half months, then forward again. When that loop happens to straddle your natal Saturn degree, Saturn crosses it three times. A typical first return looks like this:

1. First pass (direct). Saturn reaches your natal degree for the first time. Something starts: a decision presents itself, a structure cracks.
2. Second pass (retrograde). Two to five months later, Saturn backs over the same degree. The issue returns for revision; you see what you missed.
3. Third pass (direct). A few months after that, Saturn crosses for the last time and moves on. The decision lands, and the new structure holds.

The three passes typically span seven to twelve months. If your natal Saturn sits at a degree Saturn crosses only once (it happens when the retrograde loop falls entirely before or after your degree), you get a single, cleaner pass. Either way, the wider transit through your Saturn sign lasts about two and a half years.

What if I was born near a Saturn sign change?

Saturn's sign boundaries are not clean lines. Because Saturn retrogrades for about four and a half months every year, it often crosses into a new sign, backs out again, and re-enters months later. The Aries ingress that matters now happened in two stages: a preview from late May to 1 September 2025, then the lasting entry on 14 February 2026. The same thing happened in 1998–99, when Saturn left Aries in June 1998, slipped back in late October, and left for good in late February 1999. If your birth date falls inside one of those loops, your Saturn sign is the one Saturn had at that moment, not the sign the year is usually filed under. The calculator uses the ingress dates, including the loops, so it handles this; a full birth chart shows the exact degree, which settles it completely.
