Editorial Policy

Purpose

AstraLink publishes astrology content for reflection, learning and timing, and it sells an app that does the same. Those two facts create an obvious tension, and this policy exists to manage it in the open. Our promise is simple: the calculations are correct, the facts are sourced, the interpretations are labelled as interpretations, the AI is disclosed, the reviews are human, and the comparisons are honest even when they cost us.

Methodology

Zodiac. We use the tropical zodiac for all Western astrology content: signs measured from the March equinox, the standard in Western practice. Where a page discusses sidereal or Vedic astrology, or the Chinese zodiac and BaZi, it says so explicitly and the calculations follow that system.

Houses. Charts and house-based interpretations use Placidus houses by default, the most common system in Western astrology software and the default in the AstraLink app. Where whole-sign houses give a materially different picture, we say so. The learn hub explains both systems.

Positions. Planetary positions, Moon phases, Void-of-Course windows, retrograde stations, eclipses and ingresses are computed from ephemeris-grade data of the kind used by professional software, and dates on the site are checked against an ephemeris before publication. Times are given in US Eastern unless a page says otherwise. If we are not certain of a date, we say "check the live calendar in the app" rather than guess.

Orbs and weighting. Aspects are discussed with conventional orbs (wider for the Sun and Moon, tighter for minor aspects), and "strongest aspects" means tightest orb and heaviest planets, in that order.

Rulerships. We use traditional rulers for chart-ruler and dispositor logic and name the modern co-ruler where it applies (for example Mars and Pluto for Scorpio rising).

Numerology uses the Pythagorean system for Life Path and personal year. Personal Codes in the app are computed from the natal chart by a method the app documents; on the site we describe what the feature does and never publish a code as universally "lucky".

Sourcing

Astronomical facts come from ephemeris data. Astrological interpretation draws on classical and modern sources in the Western tradition, which we name in the text where a specific idea belongs to a specific author. Statistics about astrology's audience come only from public research; the figures we use most are from the Pew Research Center: about 27% of US adults say they believe in astrology, including 43% of women aged 18 to 49, and 54% of LGBT adults consult astrology or a horoscope at least yearly. We cite these as public facts and do not extrapolate from them. Facts about other apps on comparison pages come from each app's current public version and store description, checked on the date shown on the page. We do not invent user counts, ratings, download figures, testimonials, awards or press quotes, for ourselves or anyone else.

How we use AI, and how humans review it

Drafts on this site are produced with AI assistance. An astrologer on the editorial team writes a brief for each page: the question it answers, the placements or dates involved, and the methodology to follow. A model produces a first draft from that brief and our house framework. A human astrologer then reviews the draft in full: astronomical dates are verified, interpretations are checked against chart logic, tone is checked for fatalism or fear, inclusive language is checked, and anything resembling medical, legal or financial advice is removed. An editor makes the final pass for clarity. No page is published without that human review, and the reviewing astrologer is accountable for it under the team byline.

The AI reading inside the AstraLink app is a separate system. It is clearly labelled as AI in the app, generates text from a structured description of your chart using an interpretive framework the editorial team wrote and maintains, and is not used to write this site's pages. We never use AI to generate testimonials, statistics or reviews of other products.

Review cadence

• Transit, calendar and news pages (retrogrades, eclipses, full and new moons, monthly forecasts) are checked before each period they cover and again when the period ends.
• Horoscope pages are refreshed on their stated cadence (daily, weekly, monthly).
• Evergreen guides (birth chart, signs, compatibility, meanings, glossary) are reviewed at least once every twelve months, or sooner when a reader flags an issue.
• Comparison pages are re-checked against the current versions of the apps they discuss at least twice a year.

The Updated date on every page reflects the last substantive review, not a cosmetic change.

Corrections

A factual error is a wrong date, a wrong planetary position, a misstatement about another product, a broken calculation in a tool, or a misattributed source. We correct factual errors as soon as they are verified, usually within a few days, and add a short correction note to the page where the error was material. Differences of interpretation are not errors; where a reader makes a good case, we may revise the text and say why. Corrections are never silent when they change what a reader would have concluded.

Astrology on this site and in the app is offered for reflection, learning and entertainment. It is not a science and we do not present it as one. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and pages that touch health, money or contracts carry an explicit warning. We do not predict death, illness or specific events for individuals. Compatibility scores describe patterns in two charts, not the fate of a relationship, and we show the reasoning behind every score so you remain the one deciding. The site and app are for adults aged 18 and over.

Advertising, affiliates and independence

We carry no advertising, no affiliate links and no sponsored content. No app, astrologer or product mentioned on this site has paid to be mentioned or to be ranked, and none can. Our only commercial interest is AstraLink itself, which we say at the top of every comparison page. On those pages we apply the same checklist to our own app as to everyone else's and record where competitors do better; a comparison that always favoured us would be worthless to readers and, in the long run, to us; see the best astrology apps page for how that looks in practice. Free tools on the site are free with no signup; the only conversion we ask for anywhere is the early-access waitlist, and the privacy policy explains exactly what that collects.

Inclusive language

We write for everyone. Relationship content uses "partner" and "they" unless a page is explicitly about a specific pairing, never assumes a reader's gender or orientation, and never treats one kind of relationship as the default. Spanish-language pages are written natively in US Spanish, not translated word for word, and follow this same policy.

How to report an error

Write to us through the contact page. Please include the page URL, the sentence or date you believe is wrong, and, if you have it, the source you are checking against. We read every report, reply to the ones that need a reply, and log the outcome. If you are an astrologer and think we have misread a placement, say so; those messages are the most useful ones we get.

Changes to this policy

We revise this policy when our practice changes, and the date at the top is updated when we do. Substantive changes, for example to how AI is used or to the review cadence, are noted here rather than made quietly. The terms of use and privacy policy are separate documents and take precedence on the matters they cover.
