What is an astrology calendar and what should be on it?

An astrology calendar is a list of the sky's scheduled events with their meaning attached. It is not a horoscope; a horoscope interprets those events for a sign or a chart. The calendar is the raw timetable: when the Moon is new or full and in which sign, when a planet appears to move backwards (retrograde), when the Sun changes sign, when eclipses fall, and when the slow planets cross into new territory and stay there for years.

The reason to keep one is practical. Most people cannot feel a Mercury retrograde coming, but they can read that one starts on October 24 and move the contract signing to the 20th. When is the next full moon?

After the late-September full moon in Aries, the next full moon is on October 26, 2026, in early Taurus. It arrives with both Venus and Mercury retrograde, which makes it a release moon rather than a launch moon; the full moon in Taurus guide has the rituals and the do-and-don't list. After that: November 24 in Gemini and December 24 in Cancer, a full moon on Christmas Eve in the sign of home and family, which will write itself.

New moons for the rest of 2026: October 10 in Libra (relationships, agreements), November 9 in Scorpio (intimacy, shared money, endings that free you) and December 9 in Sagittarius (plans, travel, belief). New moons are for intentions; full moons are for results and release.

Retrogrades on the calendar

Mercury retrograde 2026 has one cycle left: October 24 to November 13, starting in Scorpio. Venus retrograde is rarer, roughly every eighteen months, and 2026's runs October 3 to November 13 in Scorpio, overlapping the Mercury cycle almost exactly. Mars retrograde does not happen in 2026; the next one begins in January 2027. The outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) are retrograde for months at a time every year; those periods matter mostly when they station on a sensitive point in your own chart, which the Cosmic Simulator flags.

The big picture: where the slow planets are

The year 2026 rearranged the outer sky, and the arrangement holds through 2027. Saturn and Neptune are both in Aries, a pairing that began in early 2026 and asks everyone to build something real out of a vision. Uranus is in Gemini for the first time since the 1940s, accelerating how we communicate and learn. Jupiter is in Leo from June 30, 2026 until July 2027, favouring visibility, creativity and romance, before moving into Virgo. Pluto is settled in Aquarius. Eclipses ahead

The 2026 eclipse seasons (February–March in Aquarius and Virgo, August in Leo and Pisces) are behind us. The next are February 6, 2027, an annular solar eclipse in Aquarius, and August 2, 2027, a total solar eclipse in Leo, one of the longest of the century, plus the faint penumbral lunar eclipses of the same seasons. Sun sign changes (ingresses)

The Sun changes sign roughly every thirty days, and each change resets the collective mood. The remaining 2026 ingresses: Scorpio on October 23, Sagittarius on November 22 and Capricorn on December 21, the winter solstice. How to use a cosmic calendar for planning

Astrologers plan with the calendar in three layers, and you can copy the method without knowing much astrology.

Layer one: the Moon. Start things in the waxing half (new moon to full), finish and release in the waning half (full to new). Avoid signing, launching or buying anything you care about while the Moon is Void of Course, the window between the Moon's last aspect in a sign and its entry into the next. Layer two: retrogrades. Treat Mercury retrograde as a review window: re-read, renegotiate, reconnect, back up. Treat Venus retrograde the same way for relationships and purchases. The six lunations of late 2026, one by one

October 10, new moon in Libra. Venus, Libra's ruler, has just turned retrograde, so this new moon's intentions about partnership and fairness are best framed as questions ("what do I actually want from this?") rather than promises. Good for: restarting a stalled conversation, revisiting an agreement, redesigning something. Not ideal for: a first date you hope will become the last first date, or signing a partnership agreement.

October 26, full moon in early Taurus. The month's emotional peak, with Venus (Taurus's ruler) and Mercury both retrograde. Themes: money, body, possessions, what makes you feel safe. November 9, new moon in Scorpio. Still inside both retrogrades, four days before they end. The Scorpio new moon rewards honesty about debt, intimacy and power. Plant the intention now; act on it after November 13.

November 24, full moon in Gemini. The first lunation with Mercury direct. Information that was stuck in the retrograde surfaces, conversations reach their conclusion, and anything unsaid tends to get said, sometimes loudly. Excellent for closing negotiations and clearing the inbox.

December 9, new moon in Sagittarius. The natural moment to set 2027 intentions, especially about learning, travel, publishing and belief. Jupiter, Sagittarius's ruler, is in Leo, so ambitious and slightly theatrical plans are on theme.

December 24, full moon in Cancer. Christmas Eve, in the sign of home and family. Expect emotional truth at the table, in the best and the hardest sense. It is a moon for gratitude, forgiveness and rest, and the last lunation of the year.

2027 at a glance

The year opens with Mars stationing retrograde in January, which slows launches and makes the first quarter better for strategy than sprints. The eclipses of February 6 (Aquarius) and August 2 (Leo) fall on the new nodal axis, so they are the year's two hinge points for community, technology, creativity and love. Jupiter leaves Leo for Virgo in July 2027, shifting the growth theme from being seen to being skilled. Saturn stays in Aries for the whole year and Neptune and Uranus hold their new signs, which means the reorganisation that 2026 began keeps compounding.
