• Early September 2026: Venus enters its pre-retrograde shadow, first crossing the degrees of late Libra and early Scorpio it will later retrace. Situations that resurface in October usually get their first mention now.
• October 3: Venus stations retrograde in early Scorpio. The station itself, a few days either side, is when the theme of the six weeks announces itself.
• October 10: New Moon in Libra, the sign Venus rules and will soon re-enter. A good day to name what you want from a relationship, not to force it.

• Late October: Venus passes between Earth and the Sun (the inferior conjunction, the heart of the retrograde) and slips back into late Libra. Insight tends to land here, often about what you actually value.

• November 9: New Moon in Scorpio. A reset inside the retrograde: quiet, private, honest.
• November 13: Venus stations direct in late Libra, the same day Mercury stations direct. Decisions get easier from here, but move slowly for two weeks.
• Mid-December: Venus clears its post-retrograde shadow. Whatever you decided in November is now tested in real life.

What does Venus retrograde mean?

Every eighteen months or so, Venus appears to move backward through the zodiac for about forty days. Nothing reverses in the sky: Venus is overtaking Earth on the inside track of its orbit, and from our vantage point it looks like it is backing up. Astrologically, a retrograde planet turns its attention inward. Venus governs attraction, affection, pleasure, values and money, so a Venus retrograde is a scheduled audit of all four: who and what you love, how you want to be loved, what you find beautiful, and where your money goes.

It is not a curse and it is not rare. Roughly one person in fourteen was born with Venus retrograde and lives a perfectly full romantic life. The period simply favors the re- words: review, reconnect, reconsider, renegotiate, refund. What it does not favor is the opposite set: rushing in, buying big, committing on impulse, or making a permanent change to your appearance because you feel restless. Venus retrograde in Scorpio: why this one feels intense

Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, which means the planet of easy affection is operating in the sign of depth, secrecy and all-or-nothing loyalty. Venus in Scorpio does not do casual well even when direct; retrograde, it wants the truth about a relationship more than it wants the relationship to be comfortable. Expect conversations about trust, jealousy, shared money, sexual honesty and whether someone is really in or really out. Who feels Venus retrograde 2026 most?

By Sun or rising sign. Scorpio and Libra, obviously: Venus is moving through your sign, and through your first house if you are rising in either. Taurus, ruled by Venus and opposite Scorpio, feels it in partnerships. Leo and Aquarius sit square to Scorpio and tend to get the friction version, often around ego, loyalty and independence. Jupiter is currently in Leo and the lunar nodes are on the Leo–Aquarius axis, so for those two signs the relationship review plugs straight into a bigger “who am I becoming” year.

By placement, which matters more than sign. Anyone with the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Ascendant, Descendant or Midheaven in the last third of Libra or the first third of Scorpio will have Venus station on or near it. Love during Venus retrograde: exes, ghosts and second chances

The cliché is true often enough to plan around: people from the past reappear. A text from an ex, an old crush surfacing in a friend's story, a situationship that ended badly asking to “catch up”. Venus retrograde does not send them; it removes the momentum that kept them out of view. What you do with it is the whole game.

If you are in a relationship, expect the topics you have been politely stepping around to come up. That is useful. Scorpio wants the conversation; Libra wants it to end fairly. Have it, but do not make final decisions during the retrograde itself. The information you have on November 20 will be better than the information you have on October 20.

Venus rules what you value, and in the modern world that includes your bank balance. Retrograde periods are famous for refunds, returned purchases, price adjustments and the discovery of subscriptions you forgot you were paying for. Lean into that: audit recurring charges, chase money you are owed, renegotiate a rate you have been overpaying. What tends to age badly is the big aesthetic purchase made on a restless afternoon: the couch, the tattoo, the drastic haircut, the impulse trip booked for the wrong reasons. Buy the boring things; postpone the beautiful ones until after the post-shadow clears in December. This is reflection, not financial advice; your accountant outranks your chart.

What to do and what to avoid

Do

• Reconnect with people you drifted from for no good reason.
• Revisit an old creative project, style or hobby you loved.
• Have the honest conversation, then sit with it before acting.
• Review your spending and your standards in the same week; they are related.
• Let a slow, low-drama connection keep going without labeling it yet.

Avoid

• Proposing, eloping or moving in together for the first time if it can wait six weeks.
• Confronting an ex publicly, or reading old messages at 1 a.m.
• Major cosmetic changes, big-ticket beauty purchases and expensive redecorating.
• Signing a new lease or partnership agreement in the last week of October, when Mercury joins the retrograde.
• Deciding you were “wrong about everything” because one week felt heavy.

How to check where Venus retrograde lands in your chart

Find the house in your natal chart that contains the last degrees of Libra and the first degrees of Scorpio. That house is the room Venus is redecorating: the 7th means partnership, the 10th means career and reputation, the 4th means home and family, the 5th means romance and creativity.
