What love astrology actually looks at

Most people meet astrology and relationships through Sun-sign compatibility: Leo and Scorpio, Virgo and Pisces, the lists that say who you should and should not date. Those pairings are a real starting point, and we cover every one of them in the compatibility hub. But the Sun is one placement out of a dozen, and it is rarely the one running your love life.

The placements that do run it are more specific. Venus describes what you are drawn to and how you show affection, and its sign and aspects explain a lot about the type you keep choosing. Mars is desire and pursuit: how you go after what you want, and what kind of energy you find attractive. The Moon is emotional safety, the thing that decides whether a relationship feels like home or like a performance. The 7th house and its ruler describe the partner you keep meeting, which is often a description of the parts of yourself you have outsourced. Astrology and relationships: how we write about them

Three rules shape everything in this section. First, the chart is a mirror, not a verdict. A Venus–Saturn square does not mean you are unlovable; it means you tend to believe love has to be earned, and that belief can be examined. Second, no blame, no gender assumptions. Patterns live in charts, not in “men” or “women”, and every guide here is written for whoever you date. Partners are partners; pronouns are theirs. Third, psychology first. Astrology is a language for describing patterns, and it works best alongside, not instead of, the ordinary tools: honest conversation, good friends and, when it helps, a therapist. Where an article touches something serious, we say so plainly rather than hiding it in a footer.
