Is Venus retrograde in 2040? No: here are the nearest dates
Is Venus retrograde in 2040? No, and this page explains why, lists the nearest retrogrades on either side, and says whether Venus is in a shadow period during the year.
There is no Venus retrograde in 2040: Venus is direct all year. The previous retrograde ended on August 30, 2039, and the next runs February 25 – April 8, 2041, from 6° Aries back to 20° Pisces. Venus is retrograde only about every 19 months, so some calendar years pass without one.
Venus retrograde 2040: the short answer
No. Venus does not turn retrograde in 2040. Venus is not in a shadow period at any point in 2040: the previous shadow ended on October 2, 2039 and the next begins on January 23, 2041.
Why there is no Venus retrograde in 2040
Venus is retrograde about every 19 months, for about six weeks: about 7% of the time. Because the cycle is longer than a year, the retrogrades do not land in every calendar year. The previous one ran July 18 – August 30, 2039 (Leo); the next one runs February 25 – April 8, 2041 (Aries back into Pisces). In between, Venus moves forward the whole time.
What a year without one means
In astrology Venus stands for love, attraction, values and money. With no retrograde in 2040, there is no scheduled review of those themes: matters ruled by Venus tend to move forward at their ordinary pace. It does not make the year lucky or unlucky. The guides to the nearest retrogrades are Venus retrograde 2039 and Venus retrograde 2041; the meaning and the full how-to are in the Venus retrograde guide.
